Mining or staking?
Proof of work uses computation to propose and secure blocks. Proof of stake selects validators under staking and consensus rules; it is not ASIC mining. Algorithms also differ between networks, so hardware and software must match.
- Bitcoin uses SHA-256 proof of work
- Each network sets its own rules and algorithm
- Check the coins listed in the actual offer
Check what a service actually offers
Some proof-of-work networks use ASICs; others rely more on GPUs or different mechanisms. Whether a coin is available on a platform depends on its listed offer and terms. Do not assume a service supports a coin just because it can be mined in theory.
